The Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes "Juan B. Castagnino" in Rosario, Argentina, announces the opening of the call for entries of the 65th International Salon Rosario 2011. The Salon is open to artists working in any discipline within the field of the visual arts. Candidates must send their portfolios with photographs and/or videos of the participating works. Each candidate must also include an information label, a brief C.V., and a written description of the concept behind the work. Additionally, candidates must include the entry form completely filled out with the required information¿available at the link that appears below. Likewise, it does not matter if it has been shown, or participated in any other competitions, before. The call is also open to international artists who can prove that they have been residing in Argentina for more than one month. The jury panel includes: Nancy Rojas, Curator and Coordinator of the area of Contemporary Art; Claudio Iglesias, Critic and Independent Curator; Javier Villa, Critic and Curator; and Graciela Hasper, Visual Artist, and Cofounder of RIAA-Residencia Internacional de Artistas in Argentina and of the Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas; among others. The Prizes are as follows: First Acquisition Prize: $30,000.00, presented by the Government of the Santa Fe Province and the Asociación Empresaria de Rosario. Second Acquisition Prize: $15,000.00, presented by the Municipality of Rosario and the National Council for the Arts of Colombia. Fundación Castagnino for Emerging Artists Stimulus Prize: $6,000.00. For the development of an artistic project to be exhibited at MACRO (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo-Rosario) in 2012. Collectors from Rosario Stimulus Prize: the winner will receive an round-trip airplane ticket from Buenos Aires to Berlin and back that can be used at any time during 2012.
