Luis Frangella

Born in Buenos Aires Argentina in 1944. After studying Architecture for three years Frangella moved to New York in 1976. As soon as he moved to this city he entered into the Expressionist avant-guard art scene of the East Village together with Jean Michel Basquiat, David Wojnarowicz and Mike Bidlo. He traveled to Spain in the 80’s exhibiting in Madrid and Barcelona.
His gestural painting concentrated in the human figure in a comtemporary context. He collaborated with Clorindo Testa and Francisco Bullrich in the project of the Argentinian and Brazilian Embassies. His works are represented in several museums in the U.S. Latin America as well as in Europe. He counts a grant from the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation among his many awards.
Luis Frangella died in New York in 1990.
