Fabril la mirada is the first solo exhibition by the Tucuman-born artist Lucrecia Lionti, which will be open to the public at MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires) from March 14 to June 16, 2025. Curated by Carla Barbero, the exhibition invites a critical reflection on the relationship between modern art and craft practices, blending abstraction and popular culture through the use of industrial and handmade materials.
Throughout her career, Lionti has questioned the dominant narratives of modern art, addressing themes such as the relationship between abstraction and subaltern political movements. Her works, including textiles, collages, and paper pieces, aim to not only engage with major art traditions but also with contemporary social challenges. The exhibition features textile installations created specifically for the occasion, along with a series of works made between 2012 and 2017, which highlight her experiments with conceptual art and craftsmanship.
Lucrecia Lionti, born in Tucumán in 1985, holds a degree in Fine Arts from the National University of Tucumán. Her work is part of both public and private collections, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Spain), Fondation Thalie (Belgium), Le 19 CRAC Centre Régional d’Art Contemporain de Montbéliard (France), and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Since 2018, she has been a member of the collective La Lola Mora-Trabajadoras de las Artes Tucumán. She currently lives in Buenos Aires.
The exhibition will be open for viewing until June 16, 2025, at Sala 1 of MALBA.
