The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires - MACBA presents Habitat by Luciana Levinton, an exhibition curated by Georgina G. Gluzman until February 26, 2023.
Luciana Levinton (Buenos Aires, 1977) is a visual artist and architect. In her work she explores the intersection between pictorial and architectural language. Architecture is the central concept of her work as she is inspire by facades, plants and different spaces that become abstract forms in her paintings.
Levinton's works develop on large canvases and unusual supports on which the artist creates oil paintings, as well as acrylic interventions. The works gathered in the exhibition include oil paintings on canvas, paper and large format murals. Levinton intends to give visibility to the history of architecture where the participation of women has been historically ignored. Therefore, some of the exhibited pieces are interventions on pages of publications with images of the constructions of women architects such as Charlotte Perriand.
