The group exhibition Liturgias del cuerpo (Body Liturgies) will be open from June 19, 2025 to March 23, 2026. This show is part of the program “La mirada del coleccionista2 (The Collector's Gaze), which seeks to present to the public works from private collections, where the public can identify collective sensitivities and discourses in a patrimonial sense. As part of this program, there have been exhibitions such as La Colección Ganitsky Guberek, un homenaje a Marta Traba (The Ganitsky Guberek Collection, a tribute to Marta Traba, 2002) and Colección Maraloto (The Maraloto Collection, 2011).
Liturgias del cuerpo (Body Liturgies) was conceived from a selection of the Colección Proyecto Bachué (María Victoria Turbay and José Darío Gutiérrez) and proposes how art reflects on human existence, social and political conditions and the implications of nonconformity, violence and narratives.
The human body is the main focus of the show, because in addition to being recurrent in artistic representations, it is the medium for symbolic, cultural and aesthetic expression. It is also a witness and can be a visual or conceptual object of identity and even spirituality. Liturgias del cuerpo (Body Liturgies) is divided into the following themes: “La persistencia de la consciencia” (The Persistence of Consciousness), “Lo monstruoso” (The Monstrous), “La cosecha de los violentos” (The Harvest of the Violent), “Los vánitas” (The Vanitas), “Las Venus” (The Venuses), “El ciudadano/la ciudad” (The Citizen/City), “El sentido del retrato” (The Meaning of Portraiture), “Diferencias y alteridades” (Differences and Otherness), “La expulsión del paraíso” (The Expulsion from Paradise), and “Profanaciones” (Profanations), which invites the viewer to consider situations, tensions and conflicts associated with the presentation and representation of the body.
