Liliana Porter

The Man with the Ax and Other Brief Situations is the title of the exhibition by New York-Based Argentinean artist Liliana Porter that opens at the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano in Buenos Aires (MALBA) on September 13 of this year.

The first solo show by Porter (Buenos Aires, 1941) in this museum, it consists of a site-specific installation created with a series of flat platforms on which some individuals from her already familiar cast of characters will be occupied with specific chores. These tiny characters will be depicted in activities that involve building and destroying, spreading and picking up, going back and forth, cleaning, sweeping, waking-up, falling, spilling and weaving, among other activities.

Also included in the exhibition is a selection of works on paper from Porter's recent production. The exhibition will remain open to the public at MALBA until November 18 of 2013.
