LI 2013 International Drawing Competition

La Fundació Ynglada-Guillot in Barcelona, in collaboration with the Fundació Privada Vila Casas and the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi, announces the call for participation in the LI 2013 International Drawing Competition. The call is open to both national and international artists.

Candidates may only submit a maximum of two works and they should take into account the following recommendation:

- The drawings must be black and white and without any type of coloration. They must be rendered with pencil, charcoal, Indian ink, fountain pen, or regular ink. Collages will not be accepted.

- The drawings may not measure less than 40 × 40 cm (not including the frame) or more than 90 × 90 (frame included). It will be framed with an up to 2 cm wide bow and the drawing will be protected with methacrylate or similar, but never with glass.

- On the back of each work, candidates must affix the extreme section that is indicated in the pamphlet shown in the Fundació Ynglada-Guillot's homepage and fill all the required information with clear and capitalized handwriting and using capitals only. If two drawings are submitted, a copy of that section must be attached on the back of the second drawing.

- Any work submitted in person cannot include packaging. The works must be presented at the Fundació located at: Paseo Isabel II, número I, casa Lonja 2ª de Barcelona, local social de la Reial Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi).

- The organizers of the foundation will only agree to include the works received before the aforementioned deadline.

The call offers a single prize of 4,000 euros. It will be granted to the work that receives the most points from the jury. The winning work will become property of the board of trustees who will in turn donate it to the Museo de la Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.

The selection and prize jury will be formed by a patron of the Fundació Ynglada-Guillot who will act as president; a patron of the Fundació Privada Vila Casas; and three art critics or Fine Arts scholars appointed by the foundation. The jury's decision is unappealable.

Candidates must submit their works from May 2 through May 10, 2013, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM. The jury's verdict and the selection of the works that will be exhibited will be announced to the public on July 2 of this year, during the award ceremony.

The exhibition of the selected drawings will remain open from July 2 through July 21, 2013, at the exhibition space of the Fundació Privada Vila Casas, located at calle Ausiás March, número 22-Espai VolArt de Barcelona.
