Leslie Sardiñas creates a stage design for the New York City Ballet

The arrival of spring was celebrated last May 4th at the New York City Ballet Gala, one of the most significant social events of the year in New York City. Commissioned by the company, Cuban artist Leslie Sardiñas, a NYC resident, designed both the stage and the invitation to the world premiere of the ballet American Rhapsody. With choreography by former NYCB choreographer-in-residence Christopher Wheeldon for George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, this event opened the 2016 Ballet season at Lincoln Center.
