The Instituto Cultural México Israel (ICMI) gave artist Leonora Carrington (1917) the institution¿s medal for her contributions to Mexican art and to World culture. During the tribute, held at the cultural center¿s headquarters, officials of the Instituto de las Mujeres del Distrito Federal (Inmujeres) accompanied the British-born painter in the inauguration of the exhibition El Dybbuk y Leonora Carrington. This is a show of 11 lithographs of Carrington¿s designs for the staging of the play of the same title, in New York in the 1970s. In front of family, friends, members of Mexico¿s Jewish community, and special guests, Isaac Masri, director of the Centro Cultural Indianilla and a member of the ICMI executive committee, announced the upcoming opening of the Leonora Carrington Museum in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, with an edition of the designs and photographs of the El Dybbuk staging.
