Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955–1980

Marking the 60th Anniversary of the exhibition entitled "Latin American Architecture since 1945," the Museum of Modern Art in New York presents "Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955–1980," a panoramic show that offers a wealth of never before exhibited documental material—even in the countries of origin—that attest to the close connection between social and political themes and the notion of Latin America as a "landscape in development." "Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955–1980" features drawings, mockups, vintage photographs and film clips, along with commissioned architectural models and photographs. It is introduced by a large amount of material centered on the three decades of architectural development in Latin America that preceded the1950s, including presentations of the development of several university campuses in places like Mexico City and Caracas, as well as a look at the development of Brasilia, among other things. The exhibition will remain open until July 19, 2015.
