From February 9 through February 11, twelve cultural groups will occupy the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO). The project that won the Red Galería Santa Fe Grant of the Instituto Distrital de las Artes (IDARTES) is organized by the Colectivo Aurelio and the Fundación Más Arte Más Acción with the goal of energizing the role of the museum and generating a constructive dialogue between the institutionality of art and independent spaces. Through collaborative and online contemporary work proposals, the twelve participating collectives activate the MAMBO's physical space, proposing a fresh approach to the institution of art through several actions, including: workshops, interventions, installations, and concerts—all of which will be offered free of charge to the public of Bogota. These are the participating groups and their activities: Mesa de Artistas Plásticos de Engativá (MAPE) will install a desk for attending art-related complaints; Museo Q will reflect on gender identity and gender expressions through the exhibition titled "Libido;" Colectivo Atempo will design a space for children to dialogue with the museum; El Validadero Artístico and Derrumbe will explore forgotten city museums and organize a futsal tournament; Survamos will build a map of Bogota to start a conversation about a divided city; Radio Mixticius will install a permanent radio desk where visitors and art groups will be able to amplify their voices; El Honorable Cartel will organize an edible serigraphy workshop; La Distritofónica will improvise a concert by the Vien-tox(icos) wind sextet; Altiplano will install a forest of fruit trees on the MAMBO's terrace to attract insects; Casa B will install a skating rink for public use; Caldo de Cultivo and Todo por la Praxis will install a large fence that will be accompanied by a hip-hop concert; and, lastly, Reserva Thomas Van der Hammen will donate hundreds of trees rejected by the local government for the reforestation of this natural reserve.
