Gabriel Massan's "Third World: The Bottom Dimension" at Serpentine Gallery

"Third World: The Bottom Dimension" is a multi-part project conceptualized by Brazilian multidisciplinary artist Gabriel Massan in collaboration with invited artists Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro, Novíssimo Edgar, and vocalist and music producer LYZZA. Together, their work explores the Black Brazilian experience as it intersects with the impacts of colonialism.
Through the lenses of decoloniality, queerness, and decentralization (technological, social, economic, and ideological), Third World: The Bottom Dimension challenges the viewer to rethink how we understand and orient ourselves in the world. Launched in June 2023, the project has three components: a free-to-download video game, an exhibition at Serpentine North, and web3 tokens built on the Tezos blockchain, which bring together Massan, their collaborators, and a wider web3 community.
The exhibition will run from 23 June to 22 October 2023 at Serpentine North within London's Hyde Park Kensington Gardens and is free to attend. "Third World: The Bottom Dimension" will be available for download for Windows OS via Steam from 22 June 2023.
