Filed by the former Director of El Museo del Barrio, Margarita Aguilar, the claim was dismissed by the New York State Division of Human Rights. Among other reasons, the decision concluded that "There is no probable cause to believe that the museum has engaged in, or is engaging in, the unlawful discriminatory practice complained of."
Museum officials, for their part, maintain that the former director was terminated due to poor performance.
