La Lahore Biennale 03

The Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF) inaugurated its third edition, known as LB03, on October 5, 2024. This Biennale, curated by John Tain, focuses on ecologies and sustainable futures, addressing issues arising from environmental degradation and highlighting the importance of indigenous and vernacular heritage.
Featuring around sixty artists from over thirty countries, LB03 presents site-specific exhibitions that invite reflection on the effects of climate change and promote collaboration among diverse artistic communities. Among the Latin American artists are Carolina Caycedo from Colombia, Cristina Flores Pescorán from Perú, and Tomás Saraceno from Argentina. The Biennale will also include works by Malaysian artist Simryn Gill, Irish-Iraqi artist Basil Al-Raw, and British artist Dryden Goodwin.
The event aims to catalyze solidarity among artists and communities, emphasizing the need to jointly address the environmental challenges faced by many regions in the global south, particularly in megacities grappling with rapid urbanization and climate crisis. Through this platform, the goal is not only to highlight issues but also to explore how cultural heritage and local practices can offer innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.
LB03 is shaping up to be a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, demonstrating that the fight against the climate crisis is a collective and global effort.
