The annual Painters & Sculptors Grants give 25 artists based in the U.S. with unrestricted funds of $25,000 each. In addition to the financial award, recipients gain access to a network of arts professionals, who can provide consultations on career development and financial management, and become eligible to apply for residencies at the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans.
The recipients are Zarouhie Abdalian, Natalia Ball, Rina Banerjee, Bahar Behbahani, Sarah Cain, Luke Luokun, Jesse Chun, Gabriel Dawe, Joey Fauerso, Colette Fu, Reggie Burrows Hodges, Linda Infante Lyons, Kahlil Robert Irving, Tomashi Jackson, Caroline Kent, Fred H.C Liang, Melissa Melero-Moose, Julio César Morales, Demetrius Oliver, Diego Rodriguez-Warner, Arvie Smith, Edra Soto, Cory Kamehanaokalā Holt Taum, Jordan Weber, and Didier William.
The selected artists were first nominated by artist peers and arts professionals from throughout the United States, and the final decision was conducted virtually through a multi-phase jurying process. The nominated artists were at any stage career, doing exceptional work, and deserving of greater acknowledgment. During the current social climate, the Foundation renewed its commitment by supporting the arts with these annual grants, providing artists with financial support and visibility towards their recognition.
