The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) announces the grantees for 2011

The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) announces the grantees for its 2011 program, marking the eighth year of this institution's commitment to aiding in the promotion of Latin American artists. Three grants were awarded in three different categories. The achievement grant went to David Lamelas from Argentina The mid-career grant was awarded to Tania Bruguera, from Cuba; and Alicia Villareal, from Chile. The emerging artists grant went to Laura Belém and Marcius Galán, from Brazil; Begoña Morales from Perú; Fritzia Irizar-Rojo, and Antonio Vega, from Mexico; and Amalia Pica, from Argentina. Founded in 2002, the foundation centers its efforts on helping, supporting, and promoting Latin American artists. Since its inception, it has granted aid to more than 50 artists from countries like Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
