The Beyeler Foundation exhibits a special show dedicated to Edvard Munch. March 18th - July 15th.

The Beyeler Foundation is dedicating the first special show of its anniversary year to the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863-1944). The retrospective, focuses on the significance of Munch as predecessor and founder of Expressionism, as well as the essence and contribution of the artist to emerging modern art. The show brings together approximately 130 paintings, 80 drawings and engravings belonging to each stage of Edvard Munch¿s artistic career. The organizers have borrowed numerous pieces from European and American museums, as well as other important works belonging to private collectors that are being presented for the first time, and that previously were not available to be exhibited. The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue of 228 pages and with 258 color illustrations.
