São Paulo Biennial celebrates its 70 year anniversary

In 2021, Fundação Bienal Sao Paulo commemorate the 70 years of the 1st São Paulo Biennial (1951).To mark the occasion and embed this rich history, Fundação Bienal produces a series of special projects. In addition to launching a podcast, a publication and a short film, they invited visual artists, personalities of Brazilian culture and its collaborators to compose a celebration of data or send testimonials that will be published on Instagram of the Biennial and grouped in the Biennial’s website. They are stories about works that have remained in memory, encounters provided by the exhibition and the sensations caused by the encounter with art.
The podcast Bienal, 70 years old, a co-production by UOL and the Bienal de São Paulo Foundation, seeks to rescue and draw the parallels between the stories of the Bienals and the cultural and social scene at the time. With narration by presenter Marina Person and sound design, editing and original soundtrack by Fernando Cespedes, each of the first eight episodes focuses on a decade, from 1950 to 2021, and episodes 9 and 10 bring bonus content and interaction from public.
How is a Bienal de São Paulo held? Who are the emblematic figures in this story? What are the curious memories involving important contemporary artists? These and other answers are to be found for all audiences in the Bienal, 70 anos podcast.
Every Saturday, a new episode available for free at Splash, UOL's entertainment platform, and at Fundação Bienal's Soundcloud, in addition to all streaming platforms: Spotify, Deezer, Apple Podcast and your favorite player.
