Well-known French performance artist Orlan is suing the also famous singer Lady Gaga for plagiarism, and for what Orlan regards as stealing from her visual universe. The lawsuit is based on a picture of Lady Gaga that appears in her new album and video Born This Way, in which the singer appears with two facial implants on her face and shoulders. According to Orlan, this imagery represents a blatant copy of her work Bump-Load. Another work by the French artist that was allegedly also plagiarized to be used in that same album and video is Woman with Head from 1996.
Orlan is demanding $31.7 million or 7.5 percent of the sales from the album and video.
