The Fundação Bienal do Mercosul has announced the list of artists who will participate in the 14th edition of the Biennial, which will take place in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from March 27 to May 31, 2025. Curated by Raphael Fonseca, the exhibition will feature the participation of 78 artists, who will showcase their works in 18 cultural spaces across the city. Notable venues include institutions such as the Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul (MARGS), the Usina do Gasômetro, and the Farol Santander, as well as new locations like the Cinemateca Capitólio and the Museu do Hip Hop.
The list of selected artists includes figures such as Iberê Camargo (Brazil), Sandra Vásquez de La Horra (Chile), Sara Modiano (Colombia), Santiago Yahuarcani (Peru), and Julia Isídrez (Paraguay), among others. Of the 78 selected artists, 24 are from Brazil, and 54 are international artists, with a strong representation from Latin America (24 Latin American artists). This diversity reinforces the Biennial's goal of promoting global cultural exchange through art.
The central theme of the Biennial, titled "Estalo", will explore transformation in its various forms, from natural processes to cultural and social changes. This approach aims to invite reflection on the changes that occur silently or abruptly in our daily lives, using art as a means to understand and connect different social and artistic contexts.
