The Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba) will present the exhibition "Kuitca 86: From "Nadie olvida nada" to "Siete últimas canciones" from March 14 to June 16, 2025, curated by Sonia Becce and Nancy Rojas. This exhibition explores a key moment in the career of Argentine artist Guillermo Kuitca (Buenos Aires, 1961), focusing on the year 1986, a turning point in Kuitca's work when he abandoned the representation of the human figure. This phase opens a new perspective on his art, linked to performative cultural practices and the artist’s dialogue with expanded theater, an important influence on his early productions.
The exhibition includes an unprecedented selection of paintings, such as Nadie olvida nada (1982), El mar dulce (1983), and Siete últimas canciones (1986), along with drawings and other documents that provide an in-depth look at the evolution of Kuitca's artistic language. The works, which span various formats and techniques, reflect the artist’s spatial and material exploration, showcasing the convergence of the individual and the collective, the domestic and the dramatic.
"Kuitca 86" also highlights the international relevance of the artist, recognized as a key figure in contemporary Latin American and global South art. The exhibition will be open to the public in Gallery 5, Level 2 of the museum, with an opening on Thursday, March 13, at 7:00 PM.
