Katya Cazar, New Director of the Cuenca Biennial
Katya Cazar was appointed the new director of the 12th edition of the Cuenca Biennial by the board of directors of the Fundación Municipal de Cuenca.
Cazar is an artist who completed studies as curator of contemporary art, earned a B.A. in Visual Arts and an M.A in Culture Studies. She has always worked as a visual artist and in the last seven years has successfully combined her artistic work with a practice as a freelance curator.
She is also a university research professor at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As an artis, Cazar has presented several exhibitions in Ecuador and abroad. For the previous edition of the Cuenca Biennial, she participated as an Ecuadorian curator how organized one of the three official exhibitions.
The Biennial will open during the first months of 2014 and will celebrate 26 years of existence.
