Julieta Aranda. Coordenadas claras para nuestra confusión (Clear Coordinates for Our Confusion)

The MUAC will be presenting until May 11, 2025 the exhibition Coordenadas claras para nuestra confusión (Clear Coordinates for Our Confusion) by Mexican artist Julieta Aranda. The exhibition reviews the production of the last decades, from her perspective of time understood as an autonomous and active interlocutor.
Aranda combines various disciplines and mediums in systematic sculptures, traversing the different interactions with personal, biological, scientific, geopolitical, economic, philosophical, literary, etc., in order to recognize the poetic events in which time escapes the western ways in which it is domesticated or becomes a tool of domination.
Aranda's work materializes the implications of defining ourselves as beings in relation to time on different scales and planes. For example, she analyzes the subjectivity of thinking that not all living beings have a clock or a calendar. In You Had No 9th of May! she explores the arbitrariness of a timeline and the decision of the Kiribati archipelago to alter it in order to reverse the division of two temporalities. On the other hand, with Time Bank a project in collaboration with Anton Vidolke, her research deals with economic exchanges and the possibility of addressing them from the point of view of enjoyment.
The show proposes to see the universe from various dimensions, as an exploration of space, based on the particles with which we must cohabit. It also considers how time determines the way we live and how we can interpret that the universe is in order and the human being is the one who imposes disorder.
