The call for Young Talents of the Banco de la República will remain open until April 28, 2017, at 4:00 pm. For this 2017 edition of the call will be dedicated to the visual arts.
With this initiative, the Banco de la República sponsors the formal education at international institutions of professional artists who have stood out for their academic performances and have demonstrated artistic merits and qualities. In this manner, it supports creative processes in their different manifestations, by stimulating artists' mastery of the various artistic disciplines, with the goal of elevating their artistic level of excellence.
Which area does it cover?
The program will be granted to conduct academic studies in the following disciplines:
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Engraving
- Drawing
- Photography
- Performance
- New media (audiovisual, video, electronic media)
Which requirements must candidates meet?
- Must be Colombian, under the age of 35 (by the date in which the call closes)
- Must offer roof of academic degree
- Must demonstrate trajectory in the artistic field
- Must have already been accepted to a formal academic program in one of the aforementioned areas at a foreign institution with a reputation for academic excellence.
- Must not be already attending courses abroad
Economic benefits of the program (depending on each case, in USD, pounds, or euros):

Remedial courses for the local language: One month and up to USD 3.000
Medical and dental insurance (beneficiary, spouse, and up to two children): Total value
Round-trip tickets (beneficiary, spouse, and up to two children): economy class
Monthly allowance for beneficiary: USD 1,500.00 / £ 960.00 / € 1,160.00
Monthly allowance for spouse: USD 460.00 / £ 300.00 / € 360.00
Monthly allowance for two children under the age of 18: USD 180.00 / £ 110.00 / € 140.00
A one-time payment for moving expenses: USD 120.00 / £ 80.00 / € 90.00
A one-time payment for traveling expenses (round trip, USD 320.00 / £ 210.00 / € 250.00
Book costs: USD 500.00 / / £ 320.00 / € 390.00
Thesis related costs: USD 600 / £ 390.00 / € 460.00
*Payments in any currency other than the aforementioned will be based on US dollars (USD)
Notes:
Candidates cannot be current employees of Banco de la República or have worked for the institution at any point within the two years previous to the submission of their applications for this program. An exception is granted to those former employees whose contracts were suspended and were given unpaid leave during a period that preceded the call's date by at least two years.
