Josefina Robirosa at the MACBA Museum
The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires - MACBA presents the exhibition LÍNEA Y VIBRACIÓN (LINE AND VIBRATION) by Josefina Robirosa (1932 - 2002) curated by Rodrigo Alonso. The exhibition will be on view from March 10 to June 25, 2023.
Josefina Robirosa began her artistic career in the 1950s, when artists in Buenos Aires were working in different abstract modes. The first works that caught the attention of the art scene were exhibited at the Bonino Gallery in 1956. The following year Robirosa joined the delegation that represented Argentina at the IV International Art Biennial in Sao Paulo. In the sixties the artist experimented with colored lines, stripes and geometry that were altered with volumes creating pieces similar to optical art. Later, in the seventies her work shifted towards figurative abstraction.
This exhibition brings together works from a particular phase of her production that engage in dialogue with other women artists who are part of MACBA's permanent collection.
