José Antonio Fernández

Born in Caracas in1966. He graduated in Architecture in 1991 at the Universidad Central de Venezuela ( Caracas ). In 1994 he participated in the I Sculpture Festival of the Venezuelan American Friendship Association (AVAA) in the Centro Cultural Consolidado in Caracas , where he obtained the prize, awarded by the Canadian Embassy, of a scholarship to study Art in Concordia University ( Montreal). In 1996 he obtains from Concordia University the degree of "Bachelor in Fine Arts" (Sculpure). He has participated in different collective expositions, among them the 55 Arturo Michelena Salon (1997), where he obtained the prize Harry Liepins; "Ensamblaje Arte y Parte" in the cultural hall of PDVSA in Puerto La Cruz (1998); the 58 Arturo Michelena Salon (2000) where he obtained the prize Henrique Avril; "De lo moderno a lo contemporáneo" (from the modern to the contemporary) in the Museum Alejandro Otero at the cultural complex La Rinconada (Caracas); and the 60 Arturo Michelena Salon (2002). He has also presented his work in two individual exhibitions in Caracas Como pez en el agua" (like fish in the water) in the Galería Sala Alternativa (1999) and "Semillero" (seed-bed) in the Galería 39 (2000). His work has been presented in international art fairs in Caracas, Miami and Madrid . He lives and works in Tournai-Belgica
