The Colombian Ministry of Culture awarded Javier Vanegas with the National Photography Prize, a recognition that recognizes artists who have made a significant contribution to visual culture in Colombia.
Javier Vanegas (Bogota, 1984) studied Fine Arts at the Universidad de los Andes, has a Master's Degree in Art and Creation Research at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Fine Arts at the UCM in the area of photography research. His work has been exhibited at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO), the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO). Also, Vanegas has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in national and international galleries. The work of Javier Vanegas has participated in the biennials of Asunción in Paraguay and Curitiba in Brazil.
