The Fundación Misol for the Arts has appointed Jaime Cerón as its new curator for his vast knowledge on the visual arts of the region and his work as researcher and curator. A visual arts professor and art historian at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, as well as curator and art critic, Cerón worked as director of Fine Arts of the Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo (IDCT) and, from 2010 to 2014, was responsible for the visual arts department of the Colombian Ministry of Culture. With his appointment, the Fundación Misol plans to jumpstart several programs and alliances to fulfill its cultural agenda and goals. Founded by Solita Mishaan, the central goal of the Fundanción Misol is supporting and recognizing the creative potential of contemporary artistic practices in Colombia and Latin America and to project them to other latitudes.
