The FEMSA Group invites Mexican and international artists with more than two years of residence in Mexico to participate in the 9th FEMSA Monterrey Biennial, an event created in 1992, with more than five thousand participating artists since its initiation. The opening of the call initiates the first phase of this competition, when all materials by participating artists must be submitted. Each applicant may present a minimum of two artworks and no more than four, which can be two- and/or three-dimensional. The second phase of the competition consists of the artwork selection by a jury made up of five visual arts specialists. During the last phase of the call, the selected artworks will form part of an exhibit presented at the Centro de las Artes of the city of Monterrey beginning on November 12 of this year. For this 9th edition of the Biennial, FEMSA has allocated 150,000 Mexican pesos for Acquisition Prizes for First Place in each of the participating formats. For its part, the Saint-Etienne Higher School of Art and Design (ESADSE, its French acronym) in France, through the Alliance Française of Monterrey, will grant four working residences to each of the authors whose works are awarded Acquisition Prizes, as well as artists whose works receive honorable mentions. The ongoing call will remain open until June 26, 2009.
