The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros of the Fundación Cisneros presents the Fourth Discussion Series: On Seeing, Listening, Reading, and Thinking Art. This new series of conferences will take place on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 of February and it will focus on the make/see and its equivalents: make/listen, make/read, make/perceive, make/feel, and make/think. Under the academic coordination of María Elena Ramos, we will address different forms of relationships between art and education: A-An Education FOR Art (to better learn each artistic language, encouraging the perception of the works). B-An Education FOR Art (to better understand something about the world through certain artistic creations). The Fourth Discussion Series focuses on each of the artistic languages: visual arts, filmmaking, architecture, graphic, music, and poetry. In general terms, it is a perceptual survey rather than a theoretical one, although theory with be intertwined with the image. During the one hour long session of each conference, the objective will be to perceptively explain the content of a visible matter (through a figure or abstract form, a gesture, a movement, light, a cinematographic plane or angle); or of an audible matter (a voice, a sound texture, a peculiar rhythmic, a ring). It is about approaching the forms in which works exist from within, trying to penetrate part of its growing process. The goal is to achieve that—somewhere between the before and after of the conference—certain meaningful perceptions have been mobilized in the participants; leaving them stimulated and ready to learn and feel more about the work of art, while also learning more about the world through what art teaches us. The series of conferences will be held at the Auditorio Antonio José de Sucre CAF- Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina, Caracas, Capital District, Venezuela.
