The Cultural Center of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announces the call for the IV Inter-American Biennial of Video Art to be held in December 2008 at the IDB Cultural Center Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. The competition is open to all artists who are citizens of Latin American and the Caribbean, and member countries of the IDB. Each participant must register at the IDB Cultural Center and complete the application form. Videos must be no less than one minute and no more than five minutes long. They must have been created during or after January 2007, using any technique, but they must be submitted to the competition in a DVD format that is compatible with US technology. Video content cannot be offensive to any particular government, individual or group. The Jury may disqualify any videos considered offensive. Videos must be delivered in a sealed envelope to the IDB office in each country, addressed to: IDB Cultural Center, Washington, D.C., IV Inter-American Biennial of Video Art. or via any certified air delivery service (courier, DHL, FEDEX) to the attention of: Félix Angel, Cultural Center, Inter-American Development Bank, 1300 New York Avenue NW, Stop W 220, Washington D.C., 20577. Applicants must submit their videos by July 31, 2008. The Artists selected will receive e-mail notifications. The videos submitted will not be returned. The IDB Cultural Center reserves the right to use the selected videos in any way it considers appropriate to promote of the event. The exhibition will be presented in 2009 at the Instituto Italo-Latinoamericano (Italian-Latin American Institute) in Rome, and in October of 2009 at the Santafé de Bogota¿s International Film Festival, as well as in all organizations subscribed to the international circuit. As it has done in previous years, the Biennial will travel to several institutions linked to the circuit in various countries of the region. A catalogue in English, Spanish and Italian with all participating works and biographies of the artists taking part will be published. Prizes: 1. Prize: US $4,000.00 2. Prize: US $3,000.00 3. Prize: US $2,000.00 There will also be two Honorable Mentions each receiving US $1,000. The videos awarded any of the three prizes and those receiving honorable mentions will automatically participate in the exhibition.
