Iris Grace Halmshaw, Artist at the Age of 3

Three-year-old Iris Grace Halmshaw has been enthusiastically received by the public because of the promotion of three of her paintings on the internet.

Iris, an autistic girl from the United Kingdom, achieved popular recognition after her mother, Arabella Carter-Johnson, uploaded pictures of her artworks on Facebook, where the girl received her first congratulatory commentaries.

As result of this exposure on the social network, her paintings began to sell for more than USD 1,500 each. Proceeds from the sales will go to pay for Iris's treatment and to buy art materials. Today, her paintings are part of private collections.

According to her parents, the process of painting has helped Iris—who still does not talk—to better cope with people and has also made her healthier. As part of her daily routine, Iris spends 4 to 5 hours painting.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Pablo Picasso
