Until September 13 of this year, Brazilian artist Iole de Freitas presents the exhibition titled "The Weight of Each One" at the Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro. Curated by Ligia Canongia. The exhibition reveals a change in the work by Iole de Freitas: the utilization of stainless steel sheets instead of polycarbonate sheets. The physical and chemical characteristics of the new material require more precision when twisting and assembling the work. Despite the rigidity and properties of the new material used, the sculptures "retain the fine line between the gestural and the geometric." They are suspended in the air, as they generate movement that visually dematerializes the weight of the metal. One of the additional effects that stems from the use of this new material is the reflection offered by the stainless steel, a resource that de Freitas used during the 1970s.
