Intervention by Santiago Cárdenas and his sons in the Fundación Cardioinfantil

Colombian artist Santiago Cárdenas and his two sons, Nicolás and Guillermo, donated their time and artistic work to benefit children and bring art into an unconventional space. This ludic center is inspired on the London Royal Children's Hospital designed with the help of 15 artists. On this occasion, the artistic work of one of the most important modern Colombian artists and his family will be used to benefit and accompany the recovery and education of thousands of hospitalized children. The Fundación PREMA, in partnership with the Fundación CardioInfantil, began the construction of a second phase of the Centro Lúdico to benefit an education for children based on human values. It is an intervention of the space that not only includes mural painting but also involves the integral design of floors and ceilings, using Josef Albers's color theory to encourage the recovery of the children that will occupy the space. The designs are welcoming and were conceived for children with disabilities. The murals that can be observed in some of the spaces were inspired by the stories of Rafael Pombo. In 2005, art had already contributed to the education of children through the exhibition and auction of photographs titled "Call for a Dream." In 2005, Nicolás Cárdenas and other artists participated in a fundraising in support of the Fundación PREMA, with the goal of also creating a ludic center in the city of Pereira.
