Sculptural Light Installation by Grimanesa Amorós

The temporary light installation entitled Aguas Doradas (Golden Waters) by New York-based Peruvian artist Grimanesa Amorós will remain on display on the Soleri Bridge in the city of Scottsdale, Arizona, until September 30, 2015. Sponsored by Scottsdale Public Art, the installation Aguas Doradas was inspired in the Arizona Canal and was conceived to reflect the natural elegance of that 1-mile long body of water that runs across Scottsdale. Mounted on a solid structure attached to the bridge designed by architect, artist and philosopher Paolo Solieri, the floating light sculpture expands 23 meters (75.55 feet) parallel to the canal, on the west side of the bridge. The system of LED tubes in Aguas Doradas appears to rise from the canal waters below as a way to celebrate the union of light and water. Its vertical and horizontal lines are a metaphor for the dynamic equilibrium between urban and natural forces, which can be simultaneously experienced.
