Argentine artist Sara Facio presents until July 31, 2011 the exhibition Inspiration, a retrospective of her artistic career that includes approximately 140 photographs. Curated by Cristina Alemparte, the exhibition is shown at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral in the Chilean capital. This artist from Buenos Aires is known for her portraits of famous people, musicians, and common people. She stresses a direct approach to her work and, therefore, her final photographs do not exhibit any type of effects or distortions. Some of the most famous works by Facio-and part of this retrospective-include portraits of Pablo Neruda, Mercedes Sosa, and Julio Cortázar. Along with her images of mankind, the exhibition also includes photographs of several urban landscapes that became home to Facio during different periods of her life. Cities like Barcelona, Paris, New York, and Buenos Aires are turned into protagonists of her gaze and her "visual immortalizations." Aside from being the curator in charge of the Photographic Collection at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Argentina, Facio also directs La Azotea, a photographic publishing company founded by her in 1973.
