Banco de la República announces the opening of the 8th edition of the Regional Image Program aimed at promoting the production of visual arts and showcasing creative processes in the national context.
The call Regional Image 8 aims at all visual artists, with or without educational degrees, interested in participating with their portfolios in the process of selection of works for the exhibitions and stages of the program described in point 4. Entries can be submitted in any of the 29 branches or cultural agencies of the Banco de la República in Colombia.
The selection of works has been entrusted to a team formed by eight (8) curators that have been selected by the Banco de la República.
The call is open to Colombian citizens over the age of 18, groups whose members are Colombian citizens over the age of 18, foreigners over the age of 18 who can demonstrate residence in Colombia for the last five (5) years by presenting their Alien ID cards or residence visa. The candidates that had been selected in earlier editions of the call for the regional exhibitions, must submit works that are different from the ones previously selected in the earlier edition in which he/she had already participated.
The candidates will have until January 31, 2014, to submit the following paperwork: a C.V. that includes (if any) exhibitions, recognitions, education, and publications; a brief text about the work that describes the general intentions of the work; digital images of the work digitally submitted as PDFs or JPGs—the title of the archive must follow the specifications stated in the rules of the competition; a list of the images submitted—in Word or PDF—, numbered and identified with the aforementioned nomenclature and with the corresponding information label, in the following order: Work title, year it was created in, media, dimensions (height x width x depth), and length of time (in case of videos, performances, etc.). Printed images must also be accompanied by their corresponding information labels, as it is specified in the earlier point. If the works are created in video, through the record of an action, performance, etc., then a VIMEO link (entering code must also be provided if it is not public) must also be included along with PDF or JPG still images of the videos.
Only works appraised under six million Colombian pesos (CO$6,000,000.00) will be accepted.
