Third Latin American Education and Museums Award

The Ibermuseos Program, a public initiative associated with the General Secretariat of Latin America (SEGIB), with the support of the Organization of Latin American States (OEI), the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM), and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), announces the call for participation in the Third Latin American Education and Museums Awards competition.

The Award is divided in two categories. Category I aims at identifying and awarding—in accordance with the review criteria of the event—any completed, or still under development, educational practices at museums and other similar institutions from any Latin American country, which promote personal development and social cohesion. For Category II, the objective of the Award is to encourage the creation of highly innovative, participative, and experimental projects that promote personal development and social cohesion and that have not yet been implemented or that are still under the process of implementation.

The call is open to non-profit educational organizations and other similar institutions that are connected to private or public administrations (at the local, regional, or state levels). The participating institutions from the Latin America community must have experience in areas in which museums and education intersect.

The institutions interested in participating in the third edition of this initiative must submit the necessary paperwork by July 30th of 2012.

The award purses will be distributed as follows:

1. US $ 10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars), granted to the First Prize winner of Category I.

2. US $ 5,000.00 (five thousand dollars) granted to the Second Prize winner of Category I.

3. US $ 5,000.00 (five thousand dollars) granted to the Third Prize winner of Category I.

3. US $ 10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars) granted to each of the 3 (three) projects in Category II that took first, second and third place respectively.
