id•Arte Madrid Recicla turns to creativity in order to call attention to the potential of recycling in different artistic disciplines, such as ephemeral architecture and filmmaking, demonstrating that many things that are commonly discarded can be used to create something with a new purpose, and not only an aesthetic one. This first edition of the contest has as its main goal to sensitize audiences to recycling and conservation by means of artistic creation. The competition will award a total of 14,500 euros, distributed in two categories: Audiovisual and Installation. Along with the financial support, the award includes the promotion of the winner's work through the channels managed by the sponsoring firms. In the Audiovisual category, 7,500 euros will be distributed between three winners, selected by the jury. These three works will be exhibited through the various channels mentioned above. In the Installation category, two winners will be awarded the production of their project, with a budget of up to 3,500 euros each. Also as part of the award, the competition winners will be used in different IFEMA fairs. The jury's decision will be announced in the last quarter of 2014 at the Callao cinema in Madrid, where the artwork will be on view and the awards ceremony will be held. Rodrigo Sorogoyen, director of the acclaimed film Stockholm, presides the jury for the Audiovisual section; architect Sofía Blanco Santos (currently completing her studies at Harvard University) and painter/designer Carlos Maciá (winner of the Pollock Krasner Award) preside the Installation section. Also in the jury are Gonzalo Salazar Simpson, Director of ECAM (Escuela de Cinematografía y de Audiovisual de Madrid) and a producer for such films as No habrá pa para los malvados and 8 apellidos vascos, and Rufino Ferreras, in charge of Educational Development at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, director of the www.educathyssen.org portal and responsible for educational and museum projects like
