The Fundación Enrique Grau, through its Director Monika Hartmann, invites Colombian and international artists who reside in Colombia, to participate in the 1st Grau Arts Award 2014. The Award aims to support artists and fulfill the wishes expressed by Enrique Grau (1920-2004). Candidates must submit a project created in the disciplines of drawing, painting, sculpture, engraving or photography. The deadline to submit all applications is June 20, 2014. Each artist must send three original works authored by him/her on DVD or CD, in a sealed envelope that includes the following personal information: Name or alias, ID number, telephone number and e-mail, to the headquarters of the Fundación Enrique Grau Araujo in Bogota. Works in canvas, paper, wood or cardboard must measure no more than 80 x 120 cm (31.5 x 47.25 in) and no less than 50 x 70 cm (19.70 x 27.50 in). Likewise, sculptures must not exceed 60 cm (23.60 in) in height or be under 30 cm (11.81 in). The jury will select 10 works from each category from among all the received submissions. The artists will be notified through the national media, by phone or e-mail. Once notified, candidates will have 15 days to send the selected works to the foundation's headquarters. The works will remain there until the end of the exhibition and the award ceremony. The selected works will be exhibited in three cities. First Place will receive an acquisition prize of 10 million Colombian pesos (10,000,000.00 COP). A gold and silver Mariamulata sculpture of Enrique Grau will be awarded to the winners in each category. Additionally, there will be an Award for a young and innovative artist that will be accompanied by a solo exhibition at the Fundación Grau and by a gold Mariamulata.
