Homage to Matta

The House of the Americas will dedicate the whole of 2006 to the analysis and promotion of the work of the outstanding Chilean artist Roberto Matta (1911-2002). This undertaking forms part of a larger project of work with icons of Latin American art that integrate into the collection Art of Our America. The homage to Matta includes an exhibition of his works donated to the House, in the frame of the 9th Biennial of Havana, and will remain open until the beginning of next year. A panel titled ¿The work of Roberto Matta and its impact on art of the 20th century¿ will also take place, with the participation of the artist¿s widow, Germana Ferrari, and prestigious scholars of the Chilean¿s work. In November of this year and March 2007 there will be two international theory meetings with collectors and specialists of Matta¿s work. The latter will present a catalogue of the exhibition.
