Histórias at the MarginsAdriana Varejão

Histórias at the Margins, an exhibition of works by Adriana Varejão, is presented at the São Paulo Museu de Arte Contemporânea through December 6, 2012.

The show puts on display 42 works in chronological arrangement, starting with works dated 1991. The selection includes the best examples of each one of the artist's series, Terra incógnita, Proposal for a Catechesis, Academics, Irezumis, Tongues and Incisions, Jerked-Beef Ruin, Seas and Tiles, Saunas, and Plates. Many of these works are shown here for the first time.

Adriana Varejão was born in Rio de Janeiro and her work is included in the permanent collections of the Guggenheim Museum (New York), Tate Modern (London), Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain (Paris), Fundación "la Caixa" (Barcelona), Inhotim Centro de Arte Contemporânea (Brumadinho, Minas Gerais), among others.

This exhibition has been curated by Adriano Pedrosa and will later travel to the Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro, where it will be from January 16 – March 17, 2013.
