Major restrospective of Japanese artists Takashi Murakami at MOCA, Los Ángeles.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) presents the most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of internationally artist Takashi Murakami. Born in Japan in the early 1960s, Murakami belongs to a generation of artists whose pictorial language brings together motifs linked to popular culture and the formal qualities of traditional Japanese art, such as flatness, pattern, and ornamentation. The exhibition, entitled © MURAKAMI, will be on view at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA from October 29 to February 11, 2008 and will feature key pieces that span the internationally renowned Japanese artist¿s entire career. More than 90 works in various media¿painting, sculpture, installation, and film¿will be installed in three sections, occupying over 35,000 square feet of exhibition space. Curated by MOCA chief curator Paul Schimmel, © MURAKAMI will travel to the Brooklyn Museum in New York April 4 to July 13; Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany October 2008 to December/January 2009, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao from February to May 2009.
