George Bisacca

George Bisacca, painting restorer and conservationist at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, will receive the 2012 Gabarrón International Award in Conservation and Restoration for his contribution and trajectory in the field of structural restoration and conservation of paintings on wood, and for his participation in the restoration of great historical masterpieces.

Among the works Bisacca has intervened is Rogier van der Weyden's The Descent from the Cross; Peter Paul Rubens' The Three Graces; and Durer's Adam and Eve.

The Gabarrón International Award in Conservation and Restoration is given to individuals, teams, or institutions whose professional or academic work has contributed in relevant ways to the restoration, conservation, recovery, defense, and/or protection of humanity's artistic-historical legacy.
