Beginning this month, the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires is presenting a selection of one hundred works from the Daimler Art Collection, which are associated with geometrical abstraction. This collection is one of the most important corporate collections in Europe. The initial idea of this exhibition is to present the pictorial concepts of formal reduction and geometrical abstraction ¿ both independent artistic phenomena ¿ along with classical minimalist art. The exhibition is divided into four thematic axes that analyze the abstract and minimalist tendencies. These are Classical Modernism, Zero Avant-Garde, Minimalism in America and Europe, and Form, Line, and Space. There is also a special section centered in the world of the automobile, which will include works by Sylvie Fleury, Andy Warhol (serigraphies of classic Mercedes Benz models), and Robert Longo. Among the pieces that are part of the Daimler Collection, there are works from the German Bauhaus School, Constructivism, and Concrete Art, by artists such as Oskar Schlemmer, Johannes Itten, Camille Graeser, and Josef Albers. There are also pieces by Argentines Julio Le Parc and Zinny/Maidagán, among others. The exhibition will remain open to the public until the month of October.
