The directive committee of the Gate Foundation announced that te collection, the file of artists and the art library had been donated to the Van Abemuseum (VAM) in Eindhoven. This comes after the secretary of culture Medy van de Laan decided to stop financial aid from the government. After several meetings with different institutions, the Gate Foundation found a new home for the collection in VAM. The program Be(com)ing Dutch in the Age of Global Democracy of the Van Abbemuseum, was awarded in 2006 by the Mondrian Foundation with the Prize for Development and Cultural Diversity, The file of artists and the art library will be integrated for this program. After 19 years, the Gate Foundation will close its doors at the end of 2006.
