With a photograph of the Nevado del Cocuy (Boyacá, Colombia), Gabriel Eisenband was awarded one of the most relevant prizes in nature photography, Wildlife Photography, in 2020. In the plants and fungi category, awarded by the Natural History Museum from London, England.
Gabriel Eisenband (Barranquilla, Colombia) studied film and took photographs for more than 19 years. A path that led him to landscape photography in 2002, for which he has made tours in Colombia through 46 National Natural Parks to obtain images of unique sites and, as a result of these, in 2018, he published a book.
On the photograph, Gabriel Eisenband Gontovnik wrote on his Facebook account, “On the high slopes of Cocuy Boyacá, the Senecios bloom yellow, while the imposing Ritak’uwa rises above the mist on a blue afternoon. I am very honored that this image has been awarded the prize for the best photography in the Plants category of the prestigious Wildlife Photography Award.
The competition was not easy, as more than 49,000 photographs worldwide entered the award. Wildlife Photography Award began in 1965, by the Natural History Museum of London, to grant the best nature photographs.
