Fundación SURA digitalizes its art collection

Fundación SURA digitalized its entire art collection and made it available to the public for free through the website https://www.sura.com/arteycultura/. Subsequently, the Company reaffirms its commitment to promote spaces for the enjoyment of art for its audiences, this time from virtuality.
On the website, the visitor will be able to find different paintings, engravings, and sculptures that make up a collection that has been built since 1972 and that preserves and disseminates various artistic styles in Latin America. The collection enriched considerably in 2011, when Grupo SURA acquired ING's pension and asset management operations in Latin America, thereby adding the Mexican works to the collection.
It includes more than 200 years of Latin American history, adding 1,028 works as of 2020: 651 Colombian works and 377 Mexican works. The works include paintings by influential artists in Latin America such as Fernando Botero, Alejandro Obregón, Débora Arango, Luis Caballero, and Francisco Antonio Cano; Mexican artists including Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Rufino Tamayo, and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
On the website, visitors will also be able to read and download at no cost different editorial publications promoted by SURA, including Latin American literature, research on indigenous and ancestral cultural heritage, among others, narrating the history of the region.
Also, it will be possible to access the programming of the cultural offer, as part of its alliances with different entities such as the Hay Festival in Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, stakeholding for cultural entities and initiatives in various Latin American cities, and sponsorship of the Metropolitan theater in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
With this project, the Fundación SURA, by digitalizing the collection and facilitating access to the public, seeks to preserve cultural history, which materializes in a context where virtuality becomes more relevant as a recreational alternative since attendance at the spaces remains suspended in most parts of the world.
