During an official ceremony held on November 9, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MINTIC), granted the Manuel Murillo Toro Silver Grade Medal to Gilma Suárez, director and founder of the Fundación Museo Nacional de la Fotografía de Colombia (FOTOMUSEO), in recognition of her important contribution to communications in Colombia through the continuous promotion of this important medium. The Fundación FOTOMUSEO was created in 1998 with the goal of disseminating the values of photography across different sectors of the population in Bogota, Colombia, through travelling street exhibitions that contributed to the decentralization of culture. For this purpose, the institution created a pioneering and innovative system of portable exhibition modules to be used in public spaces, as well as in different encounters at the international level.
