To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Fundación Museo Bolivariano de Arte Contemporáneo in the city of Santa Marta, presents from August 8 to October 20 of 2011 the exhibition entitled Great Masters. The exhibition includes works by the following artists: Armando Villegas, Hernando del Villar, Maripaz Jaramillo, Ángel Loochkartt, Umberto Giangrandi, Ana Mercedes Hoyos, Alfredo Guerrero, Santiago Cárdenas, Juan Cárdenas, Olga Sinclair, Lydia Azout, Teyé, Álvaro Barrios, Jorge Elías Triana, Fernando de Szyszlo, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Beatriz Nogales, Oswaldo Vitelli, Patricia Tavera, Ofelia Rodríguez, Alicia Tafour, Alejandro Obregón, Enrique Grau, Edgar Negret, Omar Rayo, and Eduardo Ramírez-Villamizar. The Fundación Museo Bolivariano de Arte Contemporáneo was founded in 1986 under an initiative by Colombian artist Armando Villegas with the support of Belisario Betancourt, the former president of Colombia. The museum is located inside the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, a historic landmark from the Seventeenth Century where Simón Bolivar-the pro-independence leader and liberator of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, and Venezuela-died.
